Karen Smudde

Dear Class of '79

At approximately 6:00 pm on August 14, 2005, Heaven welcomed another angel when Karen Smudde lost her battle with cancer.

I received an e-mail from her husband only two days earlier saying he was still checking her e-mails and to keep them coming. Jeanette Miranda
tells me that her e-mail box was stuffed and that Karen was thrilled with the 20 or so of those e-mails that came from her high school classmates.

You always wonder what kind of impression you made in high school and if anyone remembers you, and you really made Karen's last few weeks better with your stories and messages.

The last e-mail I received from Karen was on August 1, and she said, "I can never tell you how much it meant to me you sending out the e-mails to tell our class about my illness."

Everyone who responded really helped raised Karen's spirits in her final hours...remember to keep your e-mail address current with Steve if you want to keep in touch with your classmates.
