Mr. Craver
From the St. Francis
Newsletter
Our St.
Francis family has lost three dear members this past
week. The Alumni Association offers their condolences to
the family and friends of those who have gone to their
eternal rest.
George Craver
George was recently awarded the Educator of the Year
Award for his 32 years to St. Francis. He retired in the
2002-03 school year. During his tenure he was Assistant
Principal, Dean of boys, English Dept. Chair and credited
for trailblazing St. Francis into the world of
technology. Unable to attend the Heritage Ball to accept
his award, George wrote a letter to the community and in
it said, "As I sit in my den, perusing yearbooks and
reading notes and letters sent to me by my previous
students, I realize that I made the correct fateful
choice when I decided to go into education half a century
ago. Teaching is not a job, nor an avocation, but truly a
vocation and its own reward." George passed away
March 12.
